Our Cardiology Department has gained a world-wide reputation as a centre of excellence, and offers innovation in the diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients with all forms of heart disease. We have a dedicated unit of 18 registered Clinical Physiologists trained to the highest standard in cardiological assessment, divided into teams of specialists within fields such as Electrophysiology, Implantable Devices, Echocardiography & Non-Invasive investigation, as well as Respiratory and Sleep. 

 

Job Description 

As a Senior Clinical Physiologist, you will provide specialist clinical knowledge and skills in a broad range of cardiac physiological investigations and deliver expert care for patients undergoing diagnosis and treatment in the Cardiology Department. 

Hours: Full time 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support the Lead for Cardiac Intervention. Be comfortable with both clinical (solo operator) and administrative duties (stock control, charging, etc.) 

  • Have experience in various cardiac intervention procedures, such as Angioplasty, TAVI, CTO, Rotablation, etc.) 

  • Proficiency in cardiac devices is desirable, with experience in both implants and follow-ups. 

  • Perform a wide range of non-invasive procedures including one or all of the following fields; Stress testing, tilt testing, respiratory function testing, BP and HR ambulatory monitoring. 

  • Analyse and interpret real time results and communicate findings to relevant team members and cardiologist 

  • Monitor and respond to changes in the patients’ clinical status 

  • Provide expert and specialist advice to patients, colleagues and clinicians 

  • Act autonomously to deliver appropriate and individualised patient care at all times 

  • Provide technical cover to all areas of the Clinical Physiology service (including being a part of the Cardiology on-call rota) 

  • Support the Cardiology Manager with the day to day running of the department 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Registered/accredited by the AHCS, IBHRE and/or BHRS is desirable 

  • Substantial post qualification experience of working within a cardiology unit 

  • Experience of interventional cardiac procedures. 

  • Confident communicator with high levels of written and spoken English 

  • Working knowledge of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office and Excel 

  • Previous experience of working within a private hospital is desirable
