Site: The Christie Private Care and The Wilmslow Hospital and associated satellite units
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with on call cover at weekends
Contract Type: Permanent

We’re looking for a Lead Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at The Christie Private Care and The Wilmslow Hospital, currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC. HCA Healthcare UK has developed a dedicated private centre in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

The Christie Private Care treats private patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day case and outpatient treatment all on one site. The Wilmslow Hospital is a state of the art Ambulatory Surgical Centre dealing with a range of diagnostic and day case surgical procedures. The role will support the opening of new outpatient and Urgent Care centers.

As a key member of the pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and leading on the provision of a high quality, patient focused, clinical pharmacy service which consistently meets the needs of all service users.   

You will be responsible for leading the team and delivering on all aspects of the core pharmacy service, these may include provision of medicines management, advice and evidence-based practice to inpatients and outpatients, patient and aseptic services, risk management and clinical governance. The role will focus on the surgical service lines across the Manchester sites including pre-op services, intraoperative and post-operative care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and oversee the delivery of a pharmacy service that is proactive and responsive to the needs of patients and service users

  • Identify, develop and implement effective solutions to assure the delivery of evidence-based pharmaceutical care, ensuring a safe, effective and efficient pharmacy service.

  • Oversee the provision of a comprehensive clinical pharmaceutical service including prescription monitoring and supply, provision of drug information, evidence-based practice and patient counselling, including promoting collaborative working with key stakeholders e.g. participation in ward rounds/ handover meetings as appropriate.

  • To manage the clinical development and training of all clinical pharmacy colleagues and, support medicines related education and training of the wider clinical teams (nursing, medical etc.)

  • To act as a mentor/tutor for clinical pharmacists on post graduate programmes

  • Responsible for the monitoring of and, adherence to departmental Key Performance Indicators

  • To support the Pharmacy manager in investigating any customer queries and complaints in line with corporate policy

What you’ll bring:

  • MPharm (or equivalent) and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Postgraduate Diploma/Masters in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent clinical experience)

  • Extensive experience within a hospital pharmacy setting as a registered pharmacist

  • Previous management experience is essential

  • Understanding of the GPhC revalidation requirements and up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice
