Hours: 37.5hrs pw (Mon-Fri)

The Portland Hospital is recruiting for a Pre assessment Senior Staff Nurse to work within the Gynaecology Department.

As the Senior Staff nurse you will be responsible and accountable for the provision of high-quality care within the gynaecology pre-operative assessment department, working with the inpatient team to provide high quality care to all women who attend the department for surgical procedures.
The Pre assessment Nurse will conduct comprehensive assessments of patients scheduled for surgical procedures, identifying any potential health concerns that could affect their surgery and post-operative recovery.
You will educate patients on the surgery, anaesthesia and post-operative care, ensuring they understand the process and their responsibilities. monitoring and managing patient care plans, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to optimise patient outcomes.

What you’ll bring:
Skills & Experience
NMC Registered Nurse
Demonstrable knowledge as a qualified nurse with a minimum of 2 years experience
Basic adult support
Competent in cannulation and venepuncture
Being able to perform ECG as part of pre-op clinical investigations
Able to support team looking after patients who seek our Termination of Pregnancy services.
Understanding of Safeguarding issues
Competent with computers and able to use clinical systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience in gynaecology case loading- desirable
