Matron – Haematology

We are recruiting for a Matron to lead our Haematology team part of the Cancer Centre of Excellence. Based in the newly built Grafton Way Building you will benefit from an updated environment that houses the latest medical technology in Haematology care.
As the Haematology and Oncology Matron, you will work within your scope of professional practice to prioritise people, preserve safety and promote professionalism and trust in effectively managing a number of wards, departments of teams to provide excellent, safe, effective and compassionate care throughout the 24 hour period.
You will be patient focused and provide strategic nursing leadership and direction for all nursing staff across the services managed and act as a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to both professional nursing and specific specialty issues.
Acting as a role model of clinical leadership who inspires, motivates and empowers nurses within the service to deliver their best, the post holder is responsible for effectively managing the financial resources, ensuring the optimal deployment of the nursing workforce to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered and monitored. This will require the post holder to contribute to both corporate and hospital initiatives and plans, particularly in respect of changes in patient care delivery and quality.
In collaboration with the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) you will be involved in the planning and implementation of development relating to nursing throughout the hospital. You will also be part of the wider network of leaders across the HCA Healthcare group.
Skills and experience
- Nurse Registered is essential
- Previous experience of managing teams of nurses and other health care professionals
- Evidence of a high level of clinical competence within defined specialties (Oncology & Haematology)
- Consolidated experience in a clinical leadership role at or equivalent to Ward Manager or Matron
- Experience of managing resources within budget/ and capture of patient revenues/ meeting revenue targets
- Workforce Planning and Management
