Phlebotomist-Outpatients 

Location: The Lister Hospital, Chelsea Bridge Rd, London SW1W 8RH 

Hours: Full time 37.5hrs pw ( Monday-Friday, with a mixture of 8-18, 9-17, 10-18, 11-19 and 1230-2030)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Outpatients department at The Lister Hospital for a Phlebotomist.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional person who is able to integrate into a large team easily. Whilst we are a big team, you will also be working autonomously at times so will need to be able to work alone. 

 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Obtaining blood specimens in line with blood processing and handling procedures 

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort whilst in the Clinic, making sure not to compromise on their dignity and privacy at all times 

  • Inform service users of the procedures and what will happen next 

  • Communicate effectively and considerately to the patients and their family/support 

  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a consistent level of care is provided to all service users and their support group

  • Extensive Phlebotomy experience 

  • Excellent communication skills with both work colleagues and patients 

  • Up to date knowledge of Health & Safety and Safeguarding protocols 

  • Knowledge of specimen requirements 

  • Intricate attention to detail 

  • Remain empathetic to patients at all times
