We are seeking Junior Doctors with experience and interest in Oncology, to join HCA Healthcare UK’s private patient facility The Harborne Hospital, in Birmingham, Resident Doctor Medical Team
Position: Resident Doctor Oncology.
Contract: Minimum 1 year
Hours: Part Time 24 Hours Per Week or Full Time 40 hours are both available. This is weekdays only.
Salary: £63,000 - £72,000 (Dependant on Experience)
We’re looking for Trainee Doctor’s or equivalent, to join our Resident Doctors teams at The Harborne Hospital.
The Harborne Hospital is our brand-new, purpose built, state-of-the-art £100m facility that opened in January 2024. Built in partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. A purpose-built, multi-specialty hospital, providing a wide range of medical specialties including Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Gynaecology, it also has extensive Cancer care facilities. Our hospital offers outpatient and inpatient care, with a full suite of diagnostic imaging including CT, MRI and ultrasound, to support every patient from their initial investigations through to diagnosis and treatment.

Alongside our organisational expertise, we have some of the leading Consultants and Professors from a range of specialist backgrounds, choosing to bring their private patients to HCA, and as a Resident Doctor working with our medical professionals your knowledge will grow as will your professional network. HCA Healthcare UK specifically has extensive experience in delivering Cancer Services to patients, including The Christie Private Care, HCA at UCH, and Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) in London.
The Role:
This exciting opportunity to be among the first members of the Oncology Resident Doctor Team comes as a part time role, 24 hours over 2 – 3 days per week. Initially this would be in the format of supporting our newly opened chemotherapy day case unit.
This may be in the form of direct patient care, or supporting development of local governance policies and procedure, with the support of our well-established Cancer Services network throughout the UK.
There is significant opportunity for this role to develop as the service grows – incorporating inpatient and acute admission cover, alongside potential for leadership development.
What you will bring
The ideal applicant would bring strong expertise in Cancer services, alongside a passion to be an integral member of the team with real opportunity to help shape the development of our local cancer services. The role is perfect for those considering an OOP from Oncology training.
- GMC Registration and License to Practice in the UK
- Completed Foundation Years training and additionally at minimum IMT-2 (Or equivalent experience)
- At least 1 year experience in Oncology / Haematology
- Desirably you will have post qualification exams, relevant to specialist area e.g MRCP
- A passion for team-work, patient focused care with the ability to build and share best practice and offer a first-class patient experience
- Desire to develop within the role, as our cancer services grow.
