HCA Healthcare UK at University College (HCA at UCH) is a joint partnership between HCA UK and University College Hospital. The facility specialises in the treatment of patients with complex haematology and oncology conditions. As a Business Development Manager you will provide overall support for the operations team at HCA at UCH and be responsible for growing and developing the business in line with its growth strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will play a key role in supporting and expanding HCA’s business by growing HCA’s market share of patient referrals into HCA Healthcare UK from both International and Domestic markets. The core role includes all aspects of business development and account management from creating a pipeline of new business to increasing revenue generated from existing services.

What you'll do:

  • Work in collaboration with the hospital’s executive, marketing and international teams to successfully deliver against the growth strategy; ensuring appropriate consultant recruitment strategies are in place to support the development of complex haematology and oncology services across the hospital sites
  • Analyse market data for consultants and facility service lines, including referral pathway information, ensuring the relationship priorities are identified and acted upon
  • Onboard and support the development of consultants new to private practice, as well as structuring new growth opportunities for those who have an established set-up
  • Work with the local operational, clinical and relevant NHS teams to ensure comprehensive new starter inductions are completed ensuring compliance with HCA and the relevant Trust policies 
  • Establish a trustworthy working relationship, including face to face meetings with consultants and their medical secretaries or practice managers, incorporating an understanding of individual preferences and needs
  • Be an accessible and productive interface between Consultants, clinical teams and the wider HCA network, being responsive and adaptable to requests 
  • Work with the local operational and clinical teams throughout the hospital group to effectively deliver new services and treatment pathways that provide our patients with the best possible clinical outcomes
  • Produce and manage consultant contracts, ensuring spend is within budget and compliant with the legal requirements of the sector
  • Act the main point of contact for consultants when they have queries in relation to their profession service agreements and ensure services are being delivered per the contract 
  • Support the credentialing team as required to ensure all consultants remain compliant with their mandatory professional documentation

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience within the Private Healthcare sector, ideally within hospital providers, intermediaries or insurers
  • Previous experience in account management
  • Previous experience of working in an operational role (desirable)
  • Evidence of success in selling and relationship building
  • Evidence of having strong oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of working in multicultural environments
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Strong account management skills
