It’s a dedicated Oncology unit rated by CQC as ‘outstanding’.

  • Job Title:  Resident Doctor – Haematology
  • Location:  The Christie Private Care – Manchester, United Kingdom  
  • Salary Range: £64,000 - £72,000 dependent upon skills and experience
  • Fulltime: 40hr per week, no weekend work required

Summary of position:

Predominantly focussing on caring for our patients with haematological malignancies the successful candidate will ensure the highest standards of medical care for both the inpatients on our 6-bed Haematology Transplant Unit and outpatients attending the day case unit. You will work as an integral part of a close-knit haematology team (that includes two clinical nurse specialists) and liaise directly with the haematology consultants. As well as delivering both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation the unit now caters for bispecific therapies. Previous doctors in this role have gone on to receive their desired haematology SpR training positions.

You will be part of the experienced and established resident medical team which consists of 8 full time dedicated doctors who cover the solid oncology aspect (surgery, medical and clinical oncology). You will support this solid oncology side for one week per month of your rota. The resident medical team are employed by HCA and are supported within the HCA management structure. You will also work as an integral part of the ward MDT which includes nursing staff, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians and pharmacists.

Your primary role is to attend to the day to day medical care of haematology patients including clerking new planned and unplanned admissions, daily patient ward rounds, responding to medical emergencies and caring for end of life patients. You will also establish great relationships with a large pool of outpatients. There are opportunities for haematology development with regular study days available, MDT attendance and support with QI projects. Supported annual appraisal process included.

Applicant requirements:

  • GMC registration and experience working in the NHS
  • Ideally the potential candidate will have completed IMT training with a desire for a career in haematology. At a minimum must have completed foundation programme and have had a rotation in haematology.
