Role: Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children
Full time: 37.5 hours per week Permanent
Shift times: Monday – Sunday (flexibility required to work long days, Nights & weekends)

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join the team on our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC and the UK’s only private hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children. Our modern, 14 bed PICU has been operational since November 2011 and offers cutting-edge treatment using the latest technology and has the support of a specialised team of Consultant Paediatric Intensivists 24/7, ensuring our team has all the tools they need to deliver truly exceptional care.
As a Senior Staff Nurse on our Paediatric Intensive Care unit you’ll take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse while developing, implementing and evaluating holistic care plans for children in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team. We’ll look to you to act as a role model and mentor to our junior/student nurses while using those same interpersonal skills to develop long standing relationships with children and their families. What you’ll bring:
NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support
Post Graduate experience working in a PICU setting
Understanding of Safeguarding issues
Teaching and mentoring experience desirable
Completion of a PICU Course that is equivalent to 60 credits
Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable
