Shift times: We are open 7 days per week. Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am-6pm, Sat 9am-4pm, Sunday 10am-2pm. There are no on-call requirements however you will need to work one Saturday & one Sunday shift per month

We’re looking for a Senior Sonographer to join our experienced Sonography team at The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC. 

You will function as a highly experienced sonographer, working under the delegated authority of the Directors, and be responsible for the overall daily management of the clinic.  

Your role and responsibilities are focused on providing leadership to ensure the delivery of safe and efficient patient care. Activities are performed in accordance with clinic policies and procedures and applicable professional standards. 

The new Wimpole street premises are modern, spacious and use the latest equipment available. This facility is developing into a one stop HCA clinic for women’s healthcare. 

The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children. As the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK, delivering over 1,600 babies a year, we place great importance on providing safe and high-quality care for expectant mothers. Both consultant-led and midwife-led maternity care is available, and our aim is to provide you with all the support you need during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Women’s health issues are treated by a team of 40 consultants, supported by nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and counsellors, with an emphasis on privacy and dignity.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the sonography examination results meet the clinic standard for quality assurance before findings are released for interpretation. 
  • Function as a technical or clinical leader/expert in sonography. 
  • Accountable for the creation, oversight, and implementation of scanning protocols and quality control activities 
  • Provide technical, image quality, and accuracy oversight for the assessment of sonography examinations. 
  • Ensure that appropriate accreditation is secured and maintained. 
  • Carry out quality assurance protocols and quality improvement measures. 
  • Pursue and maintain cutting-edge technical and clinical updates. 
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators, and other members of the external health care providers. 
  • Serve as the representative and advocate with other internal or external health care providers 
  • Marketing – Promote, the business through continual review and enhancement of the communication techniques and mediums used to greet and meet both internal and external customers. Provide support to the Directors wherever possible in their liaison with the broader The Birth Company community. 
  • Referral – Support the need to provide a professional service to our customers. 
  • Responsible for day-to-day operation of sonography services within the clinic.

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive sonography education, training, and experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound. 
  • Extensive experience in the supervision of sonographers. 
  • Demonstrated competence in the specialty area(s) to be performed, including sonographer certification by the FMF, Society of Radiographers and Health Care Professionals Council. Where available, advanced sonographer certification should be acquired.
