Senior Therapy Radiographer

London, London Radiotherapy Centre at Guy’s Hospital        

Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

7.5 hour shifts between 08:00 and 17:30

We’re looking for a Senior Therapy Radiographer to join our Radiotherapy team at the London Radiotherapy Centre at Guy’s Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC.

Based at Guy’s Hospital, this facility offers fast access to private radiotherapy services for patients in London, the City and across Kent and the Home Counties. Just a stone’s throw from London Bridge Station, this convenient setting offers comprehensive radiotherapy planning and treatment on one site using two TrueBeam linacs, Eclipse treatment planning system, dedicated GE CT scanner and AlignRT SGRT system. The facility offers a range of techniques including SABR, VMAT and breath-hold treatments.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe and accurate administration of radiotherapy treatments, including accurate documentation in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Carry out radiotherapy planning scans to facilitate accurate radiotherapy planning, under the direction of senior radiotherapy staff.
  • Schedule patients for radiotherapy treatment on receipt of referrals in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Carry out administration aspects of the patient pathway competently.
  • Maintain effective liaison with relevant multi-disciplinary staff to ensure the provision of a high-quality service and a smooth and efficient work flow through the department.
  • Operate radiotherapy equipment in accordance with operational procedures and local rules.
  • Work across the treatment and pre-treatment areas in the provision of the clinical service.
  • Assist in maintaining an effective quality assurance programme for policies and procedures, reporting of errors, and risk and audit management.
  • Ensure routine quality assurance procedures are carried out and all equipment faults and malfunctions are recorded and reported in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all errors and incidents are recorded and reported in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for the safety of all service users and patients, ensuring compliance with current legislation regarding the use of ionising radiation; local rules for radiation safety; Health and Safety and COSHH regulations; and other relevant policies and guidelines in accordance with registering authorities and hospital policy.
  • Assist the Lead Radiographers in liaising with the referring consultants to ensure requirements are met and a high level of satisfaction is ensured.
  • Act as an ambassador for HCA Healthcare UK and maintain and foster current and future customer relations.

What you’ll bring:

  • BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in Radiotherapy
  • Professional expertise, gained on a variety of equipment and including up to date techniques and administration duties
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic patient management systems and record and verify systems
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
