About the facility:
The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
As the ITU manager you will work in partnership with the Medical Services Manager to deliver the highest levels of safe, quality patient care. You will assume responsibility and accountability for the management of 6 bedded elective critical care service. As the ITU manager you will be responsible for providing clinical direction and strong, visible leadership to all nursing staff, in partnership with allied health professionals and medical staff. This role has a component split of 80% clinical and 20% management time.
Skills and experience
- Registered General Nursing qualification with a post-graduate Intensive Care qualification is essential
- Advanced Life Support Provider Qualification is highly desirable
- Previous experience of leading and developing a team
- A strong understanding of clinical governance and quality and risk in regards to patient safety.
- Experienced in critical care leadership
- Experience in ITU Resource Management IE HR/Budget/equipment
- An ability to manage a multi-disciplinary clinical workforce
- Understanding of Data Collection / Analytics / Audits requirements and process
