We are currently recruiting for a Theatre Scrub Lead at The Harborne Hospital. Part of the World’s largest private healthcare group; providing award winning primary, acute and complex care.

Location: The Harborne Hospital 

Contract Type; Permanent, full time 37.5 hours

Salary range: This role offers a competitive salary dependent on experience

About the facility:

The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.

Role Overview:

The Lead provide clinical leadership and support colleagues to plan, monitor and evaluate skilled and appropriate care for patients undergoing different forms of surgery to ensure the provision of evidence-based care.

You must act as a role model in providing specialist knowledge within the scrub area and be able to work as part of a team supporting and developing colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator immediately.

  • Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.

  • Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.

  • To provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in the appropriate staffing and allocation of scrub duties.

  • To ensure the cost effective and appropriate use of resources with consideration and due regard to budgetary control.

  • To motivate members of staff, achieve high morale and promote effective communication with the department.

Skills and experience

  • Operating Department Practitioner/Registered Nurse qualified

  • Post graduate experience in Theatres

  • Current HCPC/NMC Registration
