Job - Lead Radiotherapist

Location - The London Radiotherapy Centre @ Guy’s & HCA Healthcare UK at UCH sites.

Contract Type - Permanent, full time hours 37.5hrs

Salary - Competitive (dependent on skills & experience). This post is equivalent to a NHS Band 8a.

Job Description

The successful post holder will lead and take responsibility for a safe and accurate service in either the treatment or pre-treatment area.  A strong background in both treatment and CT is required, with some leadership experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and take responsibility for a safe and accurate service for all aspects of the radiotherapy pathway within the defined job role

  • Be responsible for deciding the appropriate course of action in highly complex clinical care scenarios.

  • Ensure effective liaison with relevant multi-disciplinary staff to ensure the provision of a high quality service and a smooth and efficient work flow through the department.

  • Have expert knowledge of treatment modalities and provide highly specialist clinical leadership for the operation of radiotherapy equipment in accordance with operational procedures and local rules.

  • Be responsible for maintaining exemplary professional standards among the team.

  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of radiotherapy staff; maintain accurate information on radiotherapy staff employment; annual and study leave; and sickness.

  • Monitor and appraise radiotherapy staff performance; ensure that radiotherapy staff attend mandatory annual training; ensure high levels of training and competency for staff, including maintenance of accurate records.

  • Contribute towards development of the radiotherapy service and patient care improvement; optimising the use of current facilities and ensuring a high quality experience.

Skills & Experience

  • BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent

  • HCPC registration

  • Extensive radiotherapy experience in both treatment and pre-treatment

  • Wide range of professional expertise, gained on a variety of equipment and including up to date techniques

  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic patient management systems and record and verify systems

  • Well-developed  leadership and team working skills
