Hours: 37.5pw (Mon-Fri 9-5 or 8-4)

About the position:
As Chemotherapy Day Unit manager, you will lead and co-ordinate the Chemotherapy unit, whilst taking continual responsibility and accountability for the units operations, which includes managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities.
You will provide specialist nursing advice across the hospital to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with hospital targets and key performance indicators. You will also provide managerial and strong clinical leadership to all staff working in the department, whilst ensuring a high standard of nursing care at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
To provide clinical leadership and direction.
Deliver clinical services within budget and meeting business objectives.
Develop care standards and monitor effectiveness, actively seeking evidence based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the patient’s changing needs.
Lead the audit and QA initiatives and monitor the quality of nursing care.
Action audit information to achieve agreed standards and take the lead on customer care initiatives.
Promote the development of research based clinical practice and facilitate multi disciplinary team working through agreed objectives of the appraisal process and the development and maintenance of good working relationships.
Plan, allocate and evaluate the work of the team ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix is scheduled to reflect the workload and meet the needs of the patient and workforce planning.
Actively participate in clinical nursing practices, monitoring and evaluating clinical activity.
Provide patients and families with information regarding the care and management of their condition.
Skills and experience
Registered Nurse Level 1
NMC Registration and PREP requirements
Post Registration qualification in Oncology or Haematology nursing
Management qualification/training or experience
ENB 998 or equivalent mentoring and assessing qualification
Completion of the Chemotherapy Course is essential.
