Clinical Nurse Specialist – Urology 

Location – The Princess Grace Hospital

This role is a 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Urology Nurse to work with in an established team, we are looking for a dedicated and passionate nurse who is able to support both inpatient and outpatient and their family/carers. The clinical workload will include involvement in the Urology ward, continence services and instillation clinic.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an expert level of skill and knowledge in the field of Urology with at least 3 years relevant experience. This post requires a nurse who not only be an autonomous practitioner but also work well in the team. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate clinics for follow up of appropriate urology patients as per service demand.
  • Be able to undertake all CNS clinics ensuring that cross cover can be provided, this will include community clinics at times.
  • To be ward or department based and work with staff, acting as a role model, using highly developed specialist knowledge to provide specialised programmes of clinical care and liaising with the Lead CNS on a regular basis.
  • Provide specialist urological nursing advice/support to patients and their carers, either face to face or by telephone and refer to other services as appropriate e.g. district nurses, palliative care and attend wards or clinics to support patients diagnosed with urological cancers.
  • Identify competencies required and the development needs of nursing and Resident Doctors in the Hospital working in the specialty/area.
  • Work with staff in the clinical areas to develop their knowledge and skills and act a role model.
  • Devise development programmes/opportunities to facilitate staff learning relating to the specialty.

Skills & Experience:

  • First level registration at Diploma or Degree level
  • Extensive experience within a CNS role
  • Post basic qualification in clinical specialty relevant to practice area
  • In possession of or working towards first level degree
  • Teaching and Assessing and/or Mentorship qualification
  • Experience of research and audit
  • Working towards, or have the intention to do so, a degree at M level
