The Wellington Hospital Background
Based in St Johns Wood, The Wellington Hospital is the largest private hospital in the UK and offers the largest of all HCA’s 5 private intensive care units in London. The hospital itself provides care for a wide range of specialties, including cardiothoracic, neuro, general surgery, head and neck, HPB, Liver, and breast reconstruction surgery, among many others. Some of the world’s top surgeons are performing ground-breaking procedures here.
The ICU at the Wellington Hospital consists of two units, with 26 ICU beds in total, with some additional HDU beds. The ICU covers emergencies within the hospital and for other inpatients that may require organ support or higher levels of monitoring.
The ICU Resident Doctor plays a crucial role within the private Healthcare Sector. Consultants work as Independent Practitioners, and therefore the hospital requires the 24-hour presence of a Resident Doctor to provide continuous quality patient care to support these Consultants.
