Job - Senior 1 Cardiac/IR Radiographer

Location - The Portland Hospital, London

Contract Type - Permanent, full time hours 37.5hrs (shifts will be on a rota basis ranging from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, there will be a requirement to work on-calls and weekends which will be paid in additional to your base salary)

Salary Range- Competitive dependent upon skills and experience. This role is equivalent to a band 7 in the NHS.

Job Description

The Portland Hospital has built a new state of the art Hybrid Theatre. This Biplane imaging system will allow for advanced Interventional radiology, cardiac catheter procedures and also image guided surgical procedures. This is a once in a life time opportunity to join this progressive team.

  • As Senior 1 Radiographer you will work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the cardiac catheter laboratories, the Interventional Radiology suite and cross sectional imaging. It will also involve a rotational aspect into plain film imaging.

  • Deliver a high quality of diagnostic imaging to all service users, ensuring clinical safety and facilitating a high standard of customer care

  • Participate in the shift system and on call service

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate diagnostic imaging service

  • Have theoretical and practical knowledge of cardiac catheter laboratories procedures, IR Procedures and also some experience in CT.

  • Work within Radiation protection guidelines in accordance with the Local Rules and 2017 Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations IR(ME)R to ensure that the correct patient receives the correct x-ray examination with the minimum radiation dose by using ALARA principals.

  • Comply with legislative and hospital/corporate policies and procedures, ensuring patient safety

  • Be familiar with PACS and RIS software system

  • Be familiar with undertaking audits

  • Have initiative and provide high level of customer care

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HCA policies & professional Code of Conduct

  • Work as a team player, ensuring cover is provided at all times across all modalities, maximising clinical efficiency

  • Participate in an on-call rota

  • Participate in extended working days (by rota)

Skills & Experience

  • HCPC registered

  • BSc(Hons) Diagnostic Radiography

  • Knowledge of processes and procedures in cardiac catheter laboratories procedures, IR Procedures and also some experience in CT.

  • Experience in both adult and paediatric imaging (we are happy to provide training to Radiographers who do not have experience in paediatric imaging)
