Job Summary

We are looking for experienced Independent Nurse Prescriber/Practice Nurse

(Corporate Client facing, Primary Care Setting), London (several client sites in London including the city and Victoria). Who will mainly work within a Corporate setting, often as a lone worker in a clinic located on the vendors premises, the role requires the clinician to be competent and confident in the assessment and management of presenting conditions. The corporate setting is highly valued by the vendor and its employees, enabling employees to be quickly assessed on-site during working hours, with limited time away from the office desk.

You will be required to use your skills to assess, diagnose, risk assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention/treatments for patient’s in these clinics independently and to refer on when the patient’s needs are outside the practitioners scope of practice.

Additional skills essential: venepuncture, cervical cytology, travel health and yellow fever vaccination, influenza vaccinations, contraception consultations (initial (if prescriber) and repeat), ear irrigation, wound management, ability to manage on-site emergencies particularly at satellite clinics. To note: chronic disease management and childhood vaccination is not a requirement due to the nature of the business).

  • You will undertake skilled assessment and examination of patients utilizing critical thinking to formulate evidence based diagnosis, treatment, and referral/discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in all areas.
  • You will also act as a role model to junior staff, and have involvement in the departmental education programmers, and research/audit /service improvement.
  • You will be accountable for providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment through to treatment and evaluation of care.
  • As an autonomous critical thinker, they will demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills.

Your day at HCA will involve:

  • Using highly developed nursing knowledge and skills to holistically assess,  support  the diagnosis plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles with an emphasis on health education and preventative measures; supporting patients to apply the principles of self-care and supporting patients in helping to manage and live with illness
  • Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality, risk and safety
  • Act as a Senior nurse in the delivery of HCA nursing services

Successful Applicant will need the following;

Skills and Experience

  • RGN, NMC registered with PIN
  • Non- Medical independent prescriber Essential
  • Practice Nurse Qualifications (Diploma/Degree) Desirable but not essential
  • Relevant experience of dealing with minor injuries, ear irrigation, cervical screening, travel health and venepuncture
  • Previous experience as a prescribing nurse
