About the Role

The Portland Hospital for Women and Children are looking for an innovative and dynamic Lead Paediatric Site Practitioner/Head of Clinical Operations.  The Lead Paediatric Site Practitioner will be an experience senior nurse within a paediatric hospital and will be supporting the Chief Nursing Officer, Quality Matron and Paediatric Clinical Nurse Managers while managing the PSP team.  As a subject matter expert, you will provide credible senior paediatric clinical expertise in all relevant areas, including Daycase and the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) and will work clinically as part of the PSP rota which covers 24/7 support to the patients, their families and the staff on the wards.  This role will also entail being part of the Out of hours clinical team to ensure that senior clinical support is available.

The Lead PSP/Head of Clinical Operations you will also responsible for providing and supporting Paediatric resuscitation via teaching/training.   As a Senior member of the team you will be responsible for key bed management decisions and supporting the clinical nurse managements with robust discharge planning.

Skills & Experience  


  • NMC Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • Resuscitation qualification / Instructor qualification
  • PICU (ENB 415)
  • Teaching qualification (or relevant experience)
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a clinical team
  • Experience in clinical emergency management
  • Evidence of involvement in CQC preparation
  • Experience with managing safeguarding concerns
