Job - Specialist Dietitian (Oncology & Haematology)

Location - HCA Joint Ventures, Private Care at Guy's

Contract Type - Permanent, part time hours 22.5hrs over x3 days per week 9am-5pm (we are flexible on working days however will need Wednesdays to be covered)

Salary - Competitive (dependent on skills & experience). This post is equivalent to an NHS band 6 position.

Other Info - We will be able to sponsor Visa's for candidates within the EU as well as non - EU countries.

About the Post

  • The specialist dietitian will have a leading role within our oncology service, providing advanced dietetic care within the specialist fields of oncology and haem-oncology.

  • They will provide a high quality service for an allocated inpatient and day-case caseload, as well as supporting other clinical specialties when required.

  • They will provide dietetic advice that is clinically evidence based and in line with best practice standards and appropriate to the patient group, cultures and social contexts of patients, families and carers.

  • The specialist dietitian will be contribute to service development and quality projects. Relevant audit – based work will also be incorporated within their work load, as well leading training sessions on  evidence based dietetic therapy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide an efficient and effective dietetic service for patients at London Bridge at Guy’s. Working within various clinical areas but with a specialist interest and experience in oncology.

  • To work independently and manage a challenging clinical caseload.

  • Plan, prioritise and manage own caseloads as an independent practitioner, and contribute to hospital based multidisciplinary teams to deliver appropriate nutritional care plans for patients.

  • Obtain relevant clinical information concerning patient’s medical and social history from a range of sources including medical and nursing notes, other health professionals, the patient and their carer.

  • Effectively review and monitor nutritional therapies and amend treatment plans based on the outcome of patient assessments and individual nutritional needs.

  • To provide dietetic advice to patients and / or carers, taking into account their social, emotional, psychological and cultural needs; whilst being able to utilise this information effectively in formulating individualised dietetic advice.

  • To liaise and provide input to MDT which is formed of Consultants, Nursing, Catering, Pharmacy, Speech Therapy and other AHP’s with respect to provision of appropriate nutritional care for patients.

Skills & Experience

  • BSc degree in dietetics or equivalent

  • Healthcare & professionals’ council (HCPC), and British dietetic association (BDA) registration

  • Clinical practice with specialist involvement in the field of oncology

  • Experience in a wide range of clinical areas including parenteral, enteral and oral nutritional support
