Head of Infection Prevention Control Services- IPC Lead Nurse

About the Role

This is a key role leading and co-ordinating the Infection Prevention and Control Team and resource across HCA UK.  It is a dual role in that the post holder will provide the lead IPC role overseeing the development and delivery of HCA’s IPC strategy and in addition be  based at The Princess Grace Hospital and provide their IPC service. This is also a new role developed to support the HCA strategic direction of creating “One HCA” This shift in direction with enable the most flexible use of the IPC service and ensure the expertise, skills and resource are deployed to meet service need wherever it is required.

As an external nurse you will be providing leadership and professional advice to reduce infection rates to the lowest levels possible.  This post will bring additional expertise thereby further strengthening the team and providing support to all healthcare professionals in the challenge to relentlessly focus and improve the profile of infection prevention and control throughout HCA.  To act as an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles.

Skills & Experience  

  • Registered Nurse Teaching qualification or equivalent 
  • Leadership development qualification 
  • First degree in infection control Master’s degree or (working towards) or equivalent experience in IPC 
  • Expert knowledge of infection prevention and control. 
  • Strategic awareness  
  • Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing issues and the national nursing agenda 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national infection control policies and guidance  
  • Excellent understanding and proven application of clinical governance
