Permanent, Full time, 40 hours/

0800 – 1700 Mon-Fri.

Saturday working is required but are on a rota basis with the rest of the Estates Team Engineers

All other hours are covered under call out at the appropriate rate of pay

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical/Plumbing Shift Engineer to join The Lister Hospital. This role is vital in providing a high standard of workmanship maintaining the existing structure and fabric of the building on a daily basis

You will be part of a small team providing maintenance and emergency cover to the Lister Hospital Group of nine Hospitals and medical facilities.  As part of the Estates team, you will provide a first class building maintenance service to the Hospital Estate, covering reactive works, project support, scheduled maintenance works and Emergency call out.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • To ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and to adhere to HCA Healthcare policy and procedures.
  • Carry out PPM’s.
  • Daily checks of all plant areas, ensuring the areas are well maintained and tidy at all times.
  • To work on planned preventive maintenance schedules, in line with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation appropriate to the role.
  • Respond to and complete incoming works logged on the internal computerised maintenance management system (Engineering Central) prioritising your workload.
  • Responding quickly to emergency maintenance call out and reactive maintenance as required.
  • Carry out installation works as instructed by Estates Management Team.
  • To assist in projects as required.
  • Ensure all mandatory training is completed and up to date.
  • To provide a high standard of workmanship maintaining the existing structure and fabric of the building on a daily basis
  • To work to a planned preventative maintenance system in accordance with a programme of work as directed by the Estates Manager / Chief Engineers
  • To provide an emergency call out service outside normal working hours as part of the estates department shift rota
  • To be responsible for all tools, equipment and uniform provided by the company.
  • To undertake other duties as may be directed by the Estates Manager / Chief Engineers

Skills and experience required

  • Experience working in 1st and 2nd fix plumbing and general plumbing maintenance
  • A good understanding of mechanical systems
  • Plumbing Qualifications (C&G or Equivalent to level 2 or level 3)
  • Previous experience of working in the building maintenance industry ideally within a hospital.
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills
  • General knowledge of Fire regulations
  • Manual handling
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH
