Location - The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, London
Contract Type - Bank shifts available based on your availability (Shifts available 9am-5pm Monday to Friday)

Job Description
The post holder will work as a member of the HCA bank for the Nutrition and Dietetic department as and when required for HCA Healthcare UK. To provide evidence-based dietetic assessment and intervention for paediatric inpatients and may include cover of PICU, high dependency units, rehabilitation admissions and general ward patients. While the role will be predominantly covering inpatient clinical work, the post holder may be required to cover outpatient clinics depending on skills and experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
To help cover the inpatient and outpatient paediatric dietetic service at HCA Healthcare UK as a member of the HCA temporary staffing bank.
To provide tailored and appropriate nutritional care for patients alongside a multidisciplinary team of Paediatricians, Nurses, Pharmacists and Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Play Specialists and other key health professionals.
To liaise with the catering department for the provision inpatient special diets using knowledge of allergens, menu planning and specific dietary requirements.
To maintain patient records according to professional and departmental standards and keep activity statistics as required by the nutrition and dietetic department.
To practice within the Health and Care Professional Councils (HCPC) code and standards of proficiency for dietitians, as well as the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Code of Professional Conduct including health and safety, confidentiality and equal opportunity standards and procedures.
To participate in the promotion and development of the dietetic service and undertake duties requested by the Clinical Lead Dietitian or Therapies Manager.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
Registration with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and the Health and Care Professional Council of the UK (HCPC)
Post graduate study in paediatric nutrition with evidence of a professional portfolio and involvement in specialist interest groups, audit and research
Three years post registration clinical experience as a paediatric dietitian
Experience working within relevant clinical areas including nutrition support in a rehabilitation environment, outpatient environment, PICU +/- NICU
Confidence in all modes of enteral and parenteral nutrition as well as complex discharge planning with experience working alone and with groups
Able to liaise with professionals at all levels and work within multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, groups, families and with interpreters
