Job Description

The Portland Hospital is looking for Bank staff to be available for weekend and possibly extended hours weekday shifts with the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team, who are responsible for providing high quality assessment and treatment for patients following orthopaedic surgery.

Duties & Responsibilities

· To undertake a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment of the individual patient, gaining relevant information from subjective and objective clinical examination, applying clinical reasoning skills to identify physiotherapy amenable impairments and disabilities

· To formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on specialist knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical skills

· To be competent in providing a range of orthopaedic mobility aids, as well as educating patients and their families on their correct use, as well as home exercise programmes for discharge

· To re-evaluate and re-assess patient progress and update treatment programmes as required

· To work autonomously and also in conjunction with the wider medical, nursing and allied health teams to deliver an exceptional patient experience

· To be responsible for prioritisation of clinical caseload

· To maintain accurate up-to-date patient records which comply with departmental and CSP standards

Skills & Experience

· Graduate Diploma or BSc in Physiotherapy

· Registration with HCPC

· Significant experience and knowledge with a paediatric orthopaedic caseload

· Experience with a paediatric respiratory caseload is also desirable
