We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Theatre Practitioner (Scrub) to join our team at The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, London. Our Theatres service includes 12 Theatre suits and 3 Cardiac Cath Labs. This is an excellent opportunity to join us at the forefront of pioneering Da Vinci Robotic Surgery as well as working in extensive cardiac facilities including cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery.

Job Description

The Theatre Practitioner will be working as part of a team of theatre practitioners. You will ensure a high standard of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. 

This is full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts include early & lates, working 5 days out of 7. There is also an on-call commitment.

The projected salary range is £31,630 - £35,822 per annum, dependent on experience plus 4% shift enhancements and a comprehensive benefits package on top.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence based practice

  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care

  • Prepare equipment and instruments according to the individual needs of the patient and Surgeon, as well as involvement with the updating of Surgeon preference cards

  • Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator immediately.

  • Prepare patients and provide assistance for clinical/operative procedures

  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.

  • Extensive theatre experience with expertise in either Neuro, Ortho or Cardiac Surgery.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is flexible in response to the needs of the department.

  • Good team building skills with the ability to work well under pressure
