Job Description

To provide a highly specialist service to patients who present with a range of complex communication and swallowing difficulties within HCA Healthcare UK's facilities.

To be responsible for providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and therapy packages including training and support for staff, parents and families in the implementation of treatment programmes.

Duties & Responsibilities

•To identify, deliver and evaluate specialist assessments to support the differential diagnosis of a range of complex developmental and acquired speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties 
•To provide appropriate specialist intervention for complex communication and swallowing disorders and evaluate outcomes.
•To demonstrate well developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
•To make a differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate.
•To develop clear care plans based on best practice and to use specialist knowledge to inform clinical judgments for case management.
•To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.
•To use excellent communication skills and effective joint partnership working with the multidisciplinary team. 
•To uphold professional standards of client care at all times. To adhere to National and Local professional codes of conduct

Skills and Experience

Essential-
•Professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
•Registered member of HCPC 
•Extensive experience in the field of paediatric neurology including acquired Head Injury Management.
•Experience of working within acute and rehabilitation in-patient settings.
•Post-graduate dysphagia training.
•Involvement in audit and /or with audit development and activities.
•Advanced skills in tracheostomy assessment and management
•Videofluoroscopy
•Knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication systems

 Desirable-
•Registered member of RCSLT
•Working with interpreters.
•FEES
