Job Description

The post holder will work as a member of the Nutrition and Dietetic Team providing a service to HCA Healthcare UK. To provide evidence based Dietetic assessment and intervention to inpatients in clinical areas. The post holder may be required to see patients in our outpatient clinics. To participate in the development and implementation of service improvement within their clinical area.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • To provide an efficient and effective clinical nutrition and dietetic service for inpatients and outpatients at HCA Healthcare UK.
  • To liaise with Consultants, Nursing, Catering, Pharmacy and Speech Therapy and other key health professionals with respect to provision of appropriate nutritional care for patients, including discharge planning.
  • To liaise with the Catering Department regarding the provision of meals for in-patients, menu development and to monitor the quality and standards of diets provided and served.
  • To actively participate in monitoring clinical effectiveness through data collection, clinical audits and quality improvement activities.
  • To liaise and educate Medical, Nursing, Catering and Health Care Professionals on the nutritional care of patients and the role of nutrition and disease management.
  • To be involved in the updating and standardisation of nutritional products, diet sheets, resources, policy and procedures for the department.
  • To maintain accurate patient records and documentation and maintain statistics required to comply with Hospital and departmental standards, including billing and activity information.
  • To adhere to the dietetic, code of conduct, health and safety, confidentiality and equal opportunity standards and procedures. Including mandatory training and the performance cycle.
  • To participate in the promotion and development of the Dietetic Service and undertaking any other duties requested by Senior Specialist Dietitian or Lead Dietitian
  • To maintain a high level of professionalism.
Skills and Experience
  • BSc Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current BDA (desirable) and HCPC member (State Registration)
  • Experience working within relevant clinical areas including but not limited to nutrition support in a rehabilitation environment. To include all modes of enteral nutrition as well as complex discharge planning. Ideally sound knowledge in renal and diabetes within the context of enteral feeding. Weight management may also be part of a rehabilitation caseload.
  • The post holder may be required to see patients in our outpatient clinics
  • Able to work as an effective team member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams. This includes working closely with interpreters and families
